ABOUT OUR STAFF

All teachers must maintain their level by participating in annual professional development that fulfills Core Knowledge requirements. They must also complete a certain number of Professional Activity Units each year which include participation in community events, professional workshops, and continuing education.

LEAD TEACHERS

Each program at Woods CDC has a Lead Teacher who oversees, plans, and implements a developmentally appropriate program for Preschool children that meets the Maryland State Department of Education’s accreditation standards. Other responsibilities include assessing the growth and needs of the children, facilitating parents conferences, and promoting a safe and healthy learning environment. Lead teachers must have a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

ASSISTANT LEAD TEACHERS

Assistant Lead Teachers assist the Lead Teacher in the implementation of the daily activities. Other responsibilities include working with individual children and small groups to meet the needs of the children. Assistant Lead Teachers must hold an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

TEACHING ASSISTANTS

Teaching Assistants work collaboratively with the teaching team and help to supervise the educational activities. Teaching Assistants must have at least one year of experience working with children.
