We believe that early childhood should be a time of creativity and joy. Teacher-directed activities are balanced with child-directed activities, outdoor time in our wonderful playground, music, and art. Music class is held weekly September through May. Our PreKindergarten classes and Full Day Fours’ class have drama class.

In a nurturing, safe environment, each day is filled with learning opportunities in language and literacy, math, science, social studies, and/or the arts. Our lessons are based on The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, a State-approved resource for accredited preschools, and the Maryland Model for School Readiness. Our aim is to prepare children socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively for kindergarten. Our learning goals for the children are the same in both the Full Day and Part Day programs.

Woods CDC takes exceptional pride in its experienced staff. Each classroom is staffed with a degreed teacher and one to three support staff. Our staff–to-child ratio exceeds State regulations and provides an environment that encourages adult/child interaction and individual attention.

The Woods CDC has implemented both a values curriculum and a Christian education program on a center-wide basis. Weekly chapel is held October through May.

Through careful observation and assessment practices, our staff is able to meet the individual needs of each child in small and large group settings. Progress reports and parent conferences are completed twice yearly.

Children must be at least two years old and reach the age of the class by September 1 in order to enroll. Registration is held in mid-winter and throughout the year as space is available.

Part Day Preschool Program

Our Part Day Preschool Program has its own classrooms and staff separate from the Full Day Childcare. By providing many and varied activities that are individually and age appropriate, CDC recognizes the uniqueness of each child while at the same time fostering the child’s sense of place within the larger school family.

Part Day Preschool classes run September through May. Classes for Pre-Kindergarten run September through mid-June. Parent conferences are held in January and at the end of the school year.

Full Day Childcare Program

The Full Day program operates Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on a year-round basis. Placements are available on a 10-month (Sept. to June) or 12-month (July to June) contract. Two or three days per week for 10 or 12 months are also available on a limited basis. We do not have a drop-in program.

Breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack are provided, depending on a child’s arrival and departure times. Our menu and food plan are administered under the regulation and guidelines of the MSDE Food and Nutrition Program.
